Birthing Experience

The birthing experience that I chose to write about is my most recent. This was the first pregnancy that I had induced because I was within 6 days of my due date and had never gone that far. I thought that was a sure fire deal but when the induction began, I wanted to reconsider. I also opted to have natural childbirth with no knowledge of how the induction would encourage more intense cramping. The best part of this experience was that within 3 hours of the first dose of medicine, I was in full labor and delivered in the next half hour. I wanted to go natural so that I could enjoy my new baby without being groggy and unable to move around unassisted. I was able to wash myself up, change clothes, and set up my room when I transfered to the other side of the hospital. I have never been a fan of C-section so I am glad that i have never had to have one.

I read that women in China opt to have C-sections more often to reduce the pain factor. I just think that there is more healing involved after a C-section. I also enjoyed taking part in all of my births. I had two sets of twins without C-section so I can attest to the simplicity of vaginal birth. It may not be for everyone but I have been blessed.

  2. Kamae,
Wow, two sets of twins plus the births of your (I'm guessing 3 because of your log in name :) ) other children all born naturally!! That's amazing! I have twins and had a C-section. The last ultrasound picked up that the babies were in stress, so I went right into the operating room and my babies were born within an hour. I don't think that I would have done well with a vaginal birth. The babies hadn't turned; they were still in "bunk beds." Besides, I don't think my pain threshold would have been enough--I was thankful for the epidural! My recovery was easy and my mom and sister were able to help me.
I enjoyed reading your post, Kamae. How old are your children? Boys, girls--I imagine your home is filled with lots of love and activity!

  3. Hi Kamae I really enjoyed reading about your most recent delivery. You have to be the first I have heard that delivered that quick and was up moving around and I thought I did pretty good with getting up and moving around. you have me beat but it is a blessing that you had a good delivery without complications.

  4. Denice: I think I bounce back pretty well anyway, but I really felt like an old pro this time. I was glad to not be drowsy and it also cut down on the nurses having to check me all the time. I actually got some rest the first two hours or so but then they left it all up to me. Hospitals have changed since I had my other son. Apparently nurseries are only used for sick babies. My son was in the room with me the entire time. Noone came in to change my sheets, clean my room, or bring pain meds. I was disappointed. But that can be a form of birth control for me :)
    Jan and Moon:
I have 5 living children and a set of twin girls who died after birth. My oldest is a girl and she is 17. The twin boys are 12, I have an 8 year old boy, and my baby boy is 8 months. There is never a dull moment in our life! It is so hilarious at times, that people call and ask if they can come over and watch us interact for fun. I've actually been through alot of grief and tragedy in my life so I am confident that God sent me this extremely unique group of kids to keep me smiling. After all, I never expected to have any. So they are all unexpected blessings who keep me grounded.
